Back to School Blues

Well, it is that time again...back to school. This is the time of year that most kids dread, and this year I am one of those kids again.  Not because I am going back to school, but because my sweet baby boy is starting preschool September 1st! Granted, he is only enrolled in an afternoon program to help me with my work schedule, but still, how can this time already be here? It seems like just yesterday he was this teeny tiny little person we were bringing home from the hospital!

And now here we are, almost a year later (11-11-11) to be exact.  Isn't that funny?  Charlie will be turning 1 on 11-11-11!!! Anyway, for the past couple of weeks I have been getting things together for his first day. You know, school clothes, backpacks, lunch boxes...those kinds of things.  And by the way,I found the best website that does monogrammed ANYTHING you can think of for little ones.  Be expecting a blog post on that as soon as I get all of Charlie's new things in!

Anywho, get ready for lots of new blog posts about Charlie's experiences(and mine) for his first year of preschool! And to all of you soon to be or new moms out there... when people tell you that time flies when your children are little, they are speaking the truth! Soak up every moment! It feels like yesterday that we were checking into St. Vincent's to have Charlie, and now.... well they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I will let you see for yourself!

Future Lineman!

If you know me, then you know I am a die hard Alabama fan.  My grandfather played at Alabama and continued to be good friends with Gene Stallings in the years after...in fact, my dad plays in a golf tournament every year with Coach Stallings! Something even better- Coach Bear Bryant has been to my house before....even though I would not make my appearance until many years later, its coold to think that I grew up in a house that the "Bear" had been a few times before! Anywho, as you can see, I have reason to bleed crimson and white.  And if that is not enough, I married a fellow Tide fan- so obviously Charlie, or any of our future children, for that matter, really has no choice on the team to call his team!

You can imagine our delight when Dr. Bill (Birmingham Pediatrics) told us that he would be surprised if Charlie wasn't all of 6'5 and about 250 pounds! Whoop whoop- future line backer for the University of Alabama! Mind you this was very hard for our doctor to say being that he graduated from Auburn!!  But then again we were not surprised.  If you know me, you know I am tall.  Then you also know that I come from a family of giants!! And so far, we have all had very large children!! So you mix those genes with the genes of a fairly tall husband and what do you get? A son that will one day "Go teach the Bulldogs to behave, and send the yellow jackets to a watery grave!" No matter what Charlie grows up to be, I can promise you this, his blood will always be CRIMSON AND WHITE!! Roll Tide
Only 45 more days until Alabama Football!!

My First Blog

Well, here it is....my first blog. All my friends seem to be having so much fun doing it, so I figured, why not me too? And who better to blog about, than the most precious gift from God?- My sweet Charlie baby!!! He stole my heart the day he was born, and he continues to steal the heart of every person that lays their eyes on his chubby face and long eyelashes! Obviously, I am new to this whole thing, so it may take me a few posts before I get to be "blog-tastic"! No worries, because I want all of you to experience the hilariousness that I experience every blessed day that I get to call myself "Charlie's Mommy"! He wakes up most mornings with a smile on his face much like the one to the left. There is never a dull moment in the life of this eight month old, which is why I wanted to share it with everyone I know! So here's to looking forward to many more blogs filled with laughter, chubby faces, drool, and legs so chubby you could eat them up!!!
